Zack Kouns plays some pretty dark stuff. All messed up. All weird. All different. From neo-folk, to pretty brutal noise, even getting angular occasionally. He's over from the US, and that's really nice of him. Also playing with the experimental Alps - whos songs all seem to contain 'whale' in their title - and local cultivator/curator/genius/not a dilettante, going by the name of S.

What's the best thing about the Exeter? The bands? The garden? The front bar chats with various wanderers? Nope, it's the curry.
The Exeter's famous curry night is a personal favourite of mine and something I hold near and dear to my heart...and my palate.
Every Wednesday and Thursday night the balcony is filled with everyone from the usuals that haunt the Exeter to ugh 'young professionals', and even families, but that is the appeal of curry night, it is for EVERYONE.

Dark Ale time is now. All you need is a cosy bar, maybe something red and glowing - possibly a warm red bearded man - but preferably something more inanimate and less freaky. Like a bar heater or a fire place and maybe some good droney music. The trusty Exeter has this on Saturday. Anyone wanna cuddle?
.Pat Telfers videos just keep getting better and better. Come to think of it, so do the tunes of Dud Pills/Bitch Prefect/Peak Twins/ Other. Referencing James Dean, Charlie Sheen, and quite simply, "sitting inside, all the time", 'Sitting Inside' is lo-fi bliss with ranting hip hop (don't be afraid - it's great) undertones, much like Freezer.
What:
Fatti Frances, Fair Maiden and Dud Pills
Where:
The Exeter, Rundle St, City
When:
Fri Feb 12, 9pm
How much:

Fatti Frances blends bygone soul with experimental beat samples, a voice that resonates of Karen Carpenter, and occasionally gets a little bottom-heavy with the R&B beats. Word, it's a puzzle that works. Fair Maiden sings multi-tracked vocals, beat samples and drum machines, electronic heavy, it makes for sweet archetypal folk.
All you need to know is Almost Numan are a Gary Numan cover band. Stan says they don't suck, I trust Stan. He's a man of taste, even when he's being gross.
What:
Legends of Motorsport, Friends, No Through Road
Where:
The Metro, 46 Grote St, City
When:
Sat Jan 16, 9pm
Mamma Spaghetti's favourite band, No Through Rd, will be there. Visceral post-punkers Friends are gonna be there. Rockers, Legends of Motorsport are coming over from Melbourne too. Don't forget the free coffee, lack of Rapture-like bands, reasonably priced drinks, and no Slam Adelaide stainless steel glamour.
