It's that time of year where many galleries wind things down and there's grad show after grad show. The tension is tangible, to quote Chloe, "hopeful young artists hover around their own work, drunk and vulnerable like deer in the headlights". This is 'Resonate', the work of 8 ACSA grads celebrating their graduation.
This just might be preaching to the converted, but let's get into the minds of the unknowing for a second. Everybody loves art, but not quite everyone KNOWS that they love art. If you don't hang in the right circles, art can feel a little divorced from everyday life, hell, even a little cliquey. Not everybody has artist friends, or friends that have some artist friends, plus not everybody notices the work of street artists lining our alleyways and rooftops or gets along to gallery openings.
Put simply, if you like paint - you will love this show. Symbiosis features two painters who know what they're doing with a brush. Rohan Fraser and Stephanie Crase are both painting graduates from Adelaide Centre School, but that is really where the similarities end. Sim-bi-ohhhh-sis, you see, means "the living together of unlike organisms".

Today's word of the day is Symbiosis. Symbiosis is the interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both. At the Adelaide Central Gallery, Stephanie Crase will be showing her photograph like oils on canvas and Rohan Fraser presents his schizophrenic portraiture and wild illustrations.
As you fly through traffic at 40km/h while the surrounding steel sits stationary, "today could be the day I die" doesn't really cross your mind. But what's stopping a vision-impaired gent in a navy blue V6 Mitsubishi sending you supermanning to your demise? (Albeit with less dignity, hair in far worse condition than Clark Kent's, and hopefully, a little less lycra.
